The Great Festival Flash Off: Series 5

Check out the programmes below for The Great Festival Flash Off, Series Five a trio of on-line festival days on Saturdays October 25th, Novenber 29th 2025 and January 10th 2026, inspired again by the UK reality show the Great British Bake Off, with signature, technical and showstopper writing challenges with prizes, one on each of the three days
As on previous festival online days, we have 3 workshops a day with ( read all about them here) flash readings, the mini competition with prizes and publication, yoga for writers and community chats. Most of the workshops are ones which were held at our in-person festival in July 2025. So if you missed out, here’s your chance to partake in the festival fun. Booking details here

Saturday October 25th

11.00 am – 11.30 am London time

  • Introduction to the day from festival director, Jude Higgins, who will introduce the month’s ‘signature’ writing competition challenge. Followed by 10-15 mins drafting time.

11.30 am – 11.45 am

  • Coffee chats in Zoom break out groups with world wide flash fiction friends.

12.00 pm – 1.00 pm

  • Workshop with Carrie Etter. The Star of the Show. How to make your prose poem stand out from the crowd.

1.00 pm to 1.15 pm.

  • Reading slots 3 or 4 world-wide authors read their stories

1.15 – 1.45 pm

  • Chats in Zoom break out groups with world wide flash fiction friends. Followed by a lunch break

2.30 ppm – 3.30 pm pm

  • Japanese Flash with a Twist with Heidi Clark

3.30 pm – 3.45 pm

  • Yoga stretches with Sudha Balagopal.

3.45 pm – 4.00 tea break chats

4.00 pm – 4.20 pm

  • Four flash fiction writers read their favourite stories

5.00 pm – 6.30 pm

  • Workshop with Ingrid Jendzrejewski. Hunting and Gathering

6.30 pm – 6.35 pm.

  • Thank you and goodbyes.
