Programmes for online days

Check out the programmes below for The Great Festival Flash Off, Series Three, a trio of online festival days on Saturdays October 28th, Novenber 25th 2023 and January 13th 2024 inspired again by the UK reality show the Great British Bake Off, with signature, technical and showstopper writing challenges.
As on previous festival online days, we have 3 workshops per day, flash readings, the mini competitions with prizes, yoga for writers and community chats.

Saturday October 28th

11.00 am – 11.30 am London time

  • Introduction to the day from festival director, Jude Higgins, who will introduce the month’s ‘signature’ writing competition challenge. Followed by 10-15 mins drafting time.

11.30 am – 11.45 am

  • Coffee chats in Zoom break out groups with world wide flash fiction friends.

12.00 pm – 1.00 pm

  • How to Haibun: Jude in onversation with Roberta Beary, one of editors of Haibun: A writer’s guide. Learn the basics of the form and a chance to ask your own questions.

1.00 – 1.15 Lunch break

1.15 pm to 1.30 pm.

  • Reading slots 4 world-wide authors read their newly published stories

1.30 – 1.45 pm

  • Chats in Zoom break out groups with world wide flash fiction freinds.

2.00pm – 3.00 pm

  • Creating an Ideas Grid with Ken Elkes.

3.00 pm – 3.15pm

  • Reading slots – 4 worldwide authors reading their storiesh

3.20 pm – 3.35 pm

  • Yoga stretches with Sudha Balagopal.

3.45 pm – 4.00 tea break chats

4.00 pm – 4.20 pm

  • Four flash fiction writers read their favourite stories

5.00 pm – 6.30 pm

  • Workshop with Carrie Etter.

6.30 pm – 6.35 pm.
